Fireproof Document Bags
Fireproof document bags are a fantastic resource for protecting valuable items like your passport, jewellery, and photos. As well as important documents like your birth certificate, medical information or VISA details. When selecting which fireproof bag is right for you there are a number of important considerations such as the level of fire resistance you require, its water resistance capabilities, its overall material quality/sealing system and finally its affordability rating. We’ve broken down some of the market’s best options based on these metrics…
Fire-SAFE
FirePRO
EvacuLife
SAFE BAG
Bright Life
Fire-SAFE Emergency Bag
Kicking off our list is the Fire-SAFE Emergency Bag. This fireproof document bag is the best in class when it comes to overall quality and additional features. Its combination of materials makes it safe to hold with no risk of fibreglass splinter due to the silicon coating and the addition of aluminium gives it an enhanced ability to resist heat. It also has a very unique feature in the form of internal stitching. With this, the edges of the bag are stitched on the inside, rather than the outside so they are protected from the flames (which protects the sides from breaking down). The Fire-SAFE has a dual closure system and its water immersion and fire resistance capabilities have been tested by laboratories making it the best option in terms of overall quality. This quality does however come at a cost, at $29.95 the Fire-SAFE is the most expensive solution on this list.
Who is this best for: It is best for those who can afford the premium price tag or for those who don’t mind the additional cost in exchange for the best protection available.
Size: 27.6cm x 38cm
Material: Aluminium + Fibreglass + Silicon
Fire Resistance: 1100°C (Confirmed By Laboratory Testing)
FirePRO
Next up is the FIREPRO fireproof document bag. This fire-resistant bag is built from fibreglass material and is suited to users looking for the most affordable possible option. There is a tradeoff however, the cheaper cost does mean the overall quality and features lag behind other options on this list. The FIREPRO is made from a fibreglass material which can be hazardous to handle given fibreglass shards can splinter. It does not have a closure system or seal which means heat & water can enter the bag through the gap which compromises its ability to protect your valuables and documents.
Who is this best for: It is the lowest price on our list and so if saving money is the priority and you are willing to sacrifice some benefits the presence of a closure seal and water resistance capabilities then this could be a great option for you.
Size: 26.5cm x 38.5cm
Material: Fibreglass (SAFETY WARNING⚠️: Manufacturer advises to use gloves when handling the product as fibreglass can splinter)
Fire Resistance: °C Unknown
EvacuLife
The EvacuLife is a mid tier option when it comes to Fireproof document bags. On the downside it is made from fibreglass which can splinter and harm the user and its fire resistance capabilities are not well known. On the upside it does have a single closure system which utilises velcro and provides some protection plus it is more affordable at $17.50 than other options on this list.
Who is this best for: The EvacuLife bag is best for don’t mind using gloves to handle the fibreglass and who don’t want to go for the premium options on this list due to pricing concerns.
Size: 27.5cm x 38.5cm
Material: Fibreglass (SAFETY WARNING⚠️: Manufacturer advises to use gloves when handling the product as fibreglass can splinter)
Fire Resistance: °C Unknown
SAFE BAG
The SAFE BAG is another premium tier solution. It is safe to hold due to the combination of materials it uses and it does have a dual closure system which utilises both a zipper and Velcro to protect the vulnerable entry point. It also has a high fire resistance rating of 1000°C. On the downside however this has not been confirmed by laboratory reports and the premium features that accompany the product of course come with a price tag that is the 2nd highest on this list sitting just behind the Fire-SAFE.
Who is this best for: The SAFE BAG is best for people who are willing to sacrifice the extra benefits you get with the Fire-SAFE in order to have a plain bag with no branding or imagery on it.
Size: 27.5cm x 34cm
Material: Silica Gel + Fibreglass Combination
Fire Resistance: 1000°C (Untested)
Bright Life
Last on our list is the Bright Life fireproof document bag. At $24.95 it is one of the more expensive options however it does feature a dual closure system (with an easy access zipper) and a Hi-VIS reflector strip making it easier to see in limited light situations. It fire protection is limited however due to it being made of primarily fibreglass material which is only capable of resisting 500°C.
Who is this best for: This bag is recommended for people who feel the enhanced visibility provided by the HI-VIS strip is a key feature they want to have and would prioritise having that over other benefits like overall fire & water protection.
Size: 28cm x 38cm
Material: Fibreglass + Fabric Edges
Fire Resistance: 500°C (Untested)
